Sewer Lateral Connection
The City of Indianapolis/Marion County requires connection permits to be issued by the Deparment of Metropolitan Development for all repairs and/or modifications to or connection of a building sewer to a public sewer or another building within the Sanitary District.
NEW INDIANAPOLIS SANITARY DISTRICT STANDARDS
On July 12, 2006, the Board of Public Works adopted new Sanitary Standards for the Indianapolis Sanitary District. The new standards are effective November 1, 2006. The Standards are the City's administrative procedures and the minimum requirements for the design and construction of sanitary sewer systems within the Indianapolis Sanitary District.
The Department of Public Works will conduct several public workshops for those who are interested in learning about the new standards in detail or have questions. Additional information and copies of the standards are available online.

New Sewer Connection Fee
On October 31, 2005, the City-County Council passed an ordinance establishing new sewer rates and a fee to connect to the sanitary sewer system. The rates and fee are effective January 1, 2006.
Sanitary sewer lateral connection permits will not be granted until after the Sanitary Sewer Lateral Connection Fee Calcualation Worksheet is completed and submitted for review. Review of this worksheet may result in a delay of 1-5 business days for the issuance of the sanitary sewer lateral permit. All fees must be paid to the Department of Metropolitan Development, Division of Compliance prior to issuance of the permit. All other permitting fees and charges still apply.
