Business Sign Permits

Freestanding Identification Sign

For a freestanding identification sign, we first will need (in addition to the application) a legal description of the property on which the sign is being located. Secondly, we will need a site plan that shows the complete property boundaries including all of the improvements, both existing and proposed therein, so that all measurements can be determined regarding the setbacks of the sign cabinet. Finally, we will need a sign elevation showing the height and all dimensions of the sign. Other commitments may be applicable for special rezoning and variance cases pertinent to the specific site.

Wall Sign

A Wall sign is any building sign attached parallel to, but within eighteen (18) inches of, a wall, painted on the wall surface of, or erected on an outside wall of any building or structure, which is supported by such wall or building with no more than fifty (50) percent of the sign structure extending above the wall, to a maximum extension of four (4) feet, and which displays only one (1) sign surface.

Sec. 734-202 (g) (3) Banners that are attached securely to the wall of a building on all four (4) corners shall be considered and regulated as wall signs.

For a wall sign, we will require (in addition to the application) a scaled elevation drawing of the building the sign will be placed upon. The sign will need to be clearly drawn on the building in the proposed location. The property owner’s signature is required to obtain a sign permit. In cases where it is not feasible for the owner to sign the application it is acceptable to attach a letter of permission, signed by the owner, to a submittal.
