Brokenburr Re-Development

The Brokenburr public housing development, originally consisting of 250 units on approximately 29 acres, was vacated in 2001 and demolished in 2003. BRIndy, LLC was procured by the Indiana Housing Authority (IHA) to be the Master Developer for the project in 2002. In the following year, IHA was awarded a $17.8 million HOPE VI grant to support site redevelopment and provide social services. At completion, the new development will include a total of 217 residential units, including:

  • 165 affordable and public housing rental units in three phases;
  • 52 for sale homes;
  • A park to be dedicated to IndyParks;
  • A community center/management office;
  • Two tennis courts; and
  • 10,000 sq. ft. of commercial retail space
