Canal Events

The Canal

If you plan to host an event along the Downtown Canal,  please contact Buggs Special Events, LLC.  You can check out their website at www.buggsevents.com or contact them at 317-347-0180 in addition to applying for a Special Event permit.  The following needs to be done:

Fill out the Buggs Special Events application and fax to 317-347-0279.  The application can be found at: http://www.buggsevents.com/pdf/application.pdf

Complete and sign the Site Guidelines Contract.  Fax it to 317-347-0279.  The contract can be found at: http://www.buggsevents.com/pdf/usage_guidelines.pdf

Whether the event is public or private, a certificate of liability must be provided listing Buggs Special Events, LLC and the Consolidated City of Indianapolis as additional insurers.  Only one certificate is needed and it can be faxed to 317-347-0180 or mailed to:

Depending on the type of event, there is a fee associated with all reservations.  To find out more details, please contact Buggs Special Events at 317-347-0180.  If you need an invoice, please contact Bugg's at info@buggsevents.com

Electricity and Monument Circle

Monument Circle
If your event will take place inside the ballards (the large concrete posts) of Monument Circle, you will need to contact the Indiana War Memorials Foundation, for electricity. Their telephone number is 317-233-0991.   If your event will occur outside the ballards, you will be required to complete an IPL electricity request form, which you may obtain from the Special Events office.
  
 
Picketing/Demonstrations

If your event will include picketing and/or demonstrations, you will need to contact the Indianapolis Police Department.  You may speak to Lt. Mike O'Connor, 317-327-3461, e-mail: o3394@indygov.org, fax; 317-327-3800.  

Parks

Indy Parks

 

If your event will occur within an Indianapolis Park, please contact the  appropriate Parks Department for questions or reservations, 317-327-PARK (7275).

If your event will take place in White River State Park (including Military Park), contact Debbie Benningfield, 213-0000 ext. 207, debbiebenningfield@livenation,com


 

Marathons/Parades/Runs/Walks

If the event will utilize several streets, the Special Events Office will require a detailed description and map of the event.

 

State-Owned Memorials

If your event will take place at any of the state-owned memorials downtown, such as the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Monument Circle, or the American Legion Mall, you will need to contact the Indiana War Memorials Foundation at 317-233-0991.
