Parks Positions

POSITION:   Head Guard-Thatcher Pool

SALARY: $9.00hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-133

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned Park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool or Park Manager.  Work related activities would include all facets of recreational programming and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:     High school diploma and/or GED equivalent preferred, and a minimum of one (1) years prior related experience in Aquatic Operations. Requires a thorough knowledge of pool and water chemistry and operations to include water testing and chemical applications, chemical controller calibration, set points and operation, chemical pump operation, back washing of pool filters, cleaning strainer baskets, slide and play feature motor operation, pool heater operation, pool vacuuming, vacuum operation and maintenance, chemical and supply ordering.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard License, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator Certification.  Position will require a respiratory physical and fit test for chemical facemask, maintenance and chemical handling procedures training.  Job knowledge and experience in Aquatic Operations. Experience in training and supervising employees.  Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.  Ability to communicate effectively. Customer service and people oriented.  Ability to follow established procedures, policies and protocol.

POSITION:   LIFEGUARD/Thatcher Park

SALARY: $8.00hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-135

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard.

QUALIFICATIONS:   High school diploma and/or equivalent preferred.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard License required. Water Safety Instructor desired. Ability to communicate effectively. Customer service and people oriented. Ability to follow established procedures, policies and protocol.

POSITION:   School Site Coordinator

SALARY: $12.20hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-129

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for the planning, directing and coordinating daily operational tasks for programs and services in the School Outreach Section.    Other activities may incorporate all facets of recreational and educational programming and service delivery in various physical environments and weather conditions.   This is a part time position form 11:00am to 6:30pm, but these hours may vary.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Administration, and/or related field preferred. One (1) year of related work experience may be substituted for each year of formal education.  Must be at least 21 years of age.  Must complete a state criminal background check and have a clear record. Must be self-motivated and dependable.  Ability to plan and organize events and meetings to include agendas and timelines.    Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines is a must.  Ability to communicate effectively in both forms - oral and written. Must be customer service oriented.   Must of knowledge of work processing software such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.  Licenses / certifications required:  Teaching Certification preferred and or other equivalent certifications.  Valid Indiana operator’s license required.  Ability to obtain within 6 month of employment:   Indiana Public Passenger Chauffeurs Ability to obtain within 6 weeks of employment: CPR and first aid licenses.

POSITION:   School Outreach Coordinator

SALARY: $9.00hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-094

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for the coordination and daily operational tasks for programs and services in the School Outreach Section.   Other activities may incorporate all facets of recreational and educational programming and service delivery in various physical environments and weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years experience working in recreation or teaching environment. Must have general knowledge of recreation and educational techniques.  Ability to plan and organize activities.  Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to work under general supervision.  Must complete a state criminal background check and have a clear record.  Must of knowledge of work processing software such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.       Licenses/Certifications Required:  Ability to obtain – American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certificate, Indiana Drivers License.

POSITION:   Lifeguard Washington Pool

SALARY: $8.00hr-$10.00hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-118

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma and/or equivalent preferred.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard License required. Water Safety Instructor desired. Ability to communicate effectively. Customer service and people oriented. Ability to follow established procedures, policies and protocol.

POSITION:   Lifeguard Krannert

SALARY: $8.00hr

JOB NUMBER: 2009-109

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard.

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma and/or equivalent preferred.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard License required. Water Safety Instructor desired. POSITION:   Naturalist - Eagle Creek

SALARY: $28,625

JOB NUMBER: 2009-104

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for planning initiatives effectively for teaching natural and cultural history to park patrons.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, wildlife ecology, or related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience.  Ability to effectively coordinate, guide, assist and monitor staff in project research and analysis processes, thereby ensuring the successful completion of assigned work projects.   Ability to make effective presentations.  Ability to communicate effectively through the following means:  oral, writing, summary tables and graphs, photographs, graphics, databases.  Knowledge of Indiana flora and fauna.

POSITION:  Head Lifeguard

SALARY: $8.50hr
