Events and Sponsorships

October 2001

  • Comcast partnered with AMC Networks to sponsor StageFright, a Halloween-themed month long event at Verizon Wireless Music Center.  Comcast and AMC were the title  sponsors of the Monsterfest Cinema, which played classic horror movies each night.  Free massages were available on weekends in the cinema.  Comcast customers received free popcorn each night, and $2 off admission on October 25.

  • Comcast and Time Warner joined VH1 in presenting $100,000 worth of musical instruments to Indianapolis Public Schools at a culmination event October 4 at Louis B. Russell Elementary School.  The donation is in conjunction with VH1's Save the Music Program.

  • One hundred area children aged 10-18 participated in Comcast and Bravo's "On With The Show" theater workshop, October 6-7 at Ben Davis High School.  The workshop ended with a public performance by the students.  Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, whose daughter was a workshop participant, attended the performance.

  • For the second year, Comcast was the presenting sponsor of Dressage at Sweet Charity Farms.  The annual horse show raised over $25,000 for TherAplay, a local charity whose mission is to aid physically and mentally handicapped children through interaction with horses.

  • Comcast was a media sponsor of the annual Heartland Film Festival, October 17-25.  This was the second year of Comcast's involvement with the festival.
