Community Events & Sponsorships

March 2001

  • Comcast Director of Corporate Affairs, Mark Apple, read a book to 3rd graders at Perry Township Schools' "Read Across America" event on March 1.  "Read Across America" is designed to encourage parents to read to their children, and was attended by over 900 students from Perry Township Schools.  Marion County Sheriff Jack Cottey, Marion County Prosecutor Scott Newman, WISH-TV's Rick Hightower, and WXIN-TV's Cheryl Adams were among the volunteers who also read books to the children.

  • On March 9, Comcast was the presenting sponsor of Noble Auxiliary's "Evening in the Garden," a preview of the Flower and Patio Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.  The event raised over $50,000 for Noble of Indiana.  This is the 4th consecutive year Comcast has sponsored Evening in the Garden.

  • Comcast sponsored the American Red Cross Hall of Fame Awards Luncheon March 21 at the Westin.  The luncheon recognizes Central Indiana residents who saved lives in 2000.  A video of the program will appear on Comcast's Leased Access Channel later this month.

  • Comcast partnered with CBS-affiliate WISH-TV to deliver the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament multicast to our Digital customers.  Comcast Digital Cable customers were able to watch every game of the NCAA Tournament for no additional cost.
