Community Events & Sponsorships

June 2001

  • Comcast was a sponsor of Beech Grove Mayor Warner Wiley's annual golf outing, Jun 15.  It was our fourth consecutive year of involvement.
  • Comcast aired the American Red Cross Hall of Fame Awards June 16 on our Leased Access Channel.  The annual awards luncheon recognizes Hoosiers who saved lives during the previous year.
  • Comcast was once again a sponsor of the Indianapolis Urban League's Ebony Ivory Gala, June 22 at the Indianapolis Roof Ballroom.  Comcast is a Silver Level corporate partner of the Urban League.
  • June 22-23 were the dates for the inaugural Comcast Riverfest in Muncie.  The event coincided with the launch of our Digital product in Muncie, and concluded with a concert by the Kentucky Headhunters.  Proceeds from the event help restore the White River.
  • Comcast and Second Helpings hosted the Food Network's Sara Moulton for two events.  Sara attended a fundraising dinner on June 24 at the downtown Marriott.  On June 25, the chef performed a simulation of her cooking show at the Murat Theatre.  Proceeds benefited Second Helpings, a food rescue organization that also provides job training for the homeless.
  • Comcast supported former Indianapolis Colt Jason Belser's Foundation Jun 29-30.  Proceeds from the Silent Auction and Celebrity Softball game were donated to Camp Riley, which provides handicapped children with opportunities to camp, swim, ride horses, etc.
