Community Events & Sponsorships

July 2001

  • Comcast was the presenting sponsor of the Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration and Patriotic Concert in Danville, Ind.
  • Comcast sponsored the AAA All-Star Game and was the title sponsor of the Skills Competition at Victory Field, July 10-11.
  • Comcast hosted a visit of Nickelodeon's "Aaron's Party" tour - featuring Aaron Carter - at the Verizon Wireless Music Center.  One Comcast customer won backstage passes to meet the artist, was allowed to cut in line at concession stands all night, and was the first person allowed in the festival area.
  • July 15 was "Comcast Pack the House Night" at the Arena Football League's Indiana Firebirds game.  Comcast distributed 200 tickets to the games to three local charities, including the Children's Guardian Home for abused and neglected children.
  • Comcast was a sponsor of the Indiana Black Expo Corporate Luncheon on July 19 at the RCA Dome.  The annual luncheon is the State's largest, and Comcast Representative Mark Apple was seated at the head table with Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, Governor Frank O'Bannon, and other dignitaries.  Comcast arranged for ESPN's David Aldridge to present an award to NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson during the luncheon.  Comcast partnered with Time Warner to demonstrate Digital Cable and High-Speed Internet modems throughout the three-day Expo.
  • TNT premiered their original motion picture "James Dean" at an Indianapolis Southside theatre on July 26.  Comcast was co-branded on all collateral material and had a presence at the event.  Dean was a native of Indiana
