Community Events & Sponsorships

November 1999

  • Comcast hosted a series of three Cable in the Classroom workshops for Washington Township Schools system the week of November 15.  The workshops were attended by social teachers from throughout the school system, and focused on C-SPAN's upcoming Election 2000 programming.

  • Comcast and Great American Country held a Customer Appreciation Concert November 17 at the 8-Second Saloon in Speedway.  Although the show was free, Comcast customers were urged to donate a canned food item at the door.  Proceeds were donated to the Gleaner's Food Bank.

  • Comcast donated certificates redeemable for free cable service to Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, Stonybrook Middle School, and St. Richard's School.  The certificates were auctioned to raise money for various worthwhile causes.

  • Comcast premiered Comcast@Home, our new high-speed Internet product, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Brickyard Crossing Pavilion on November 17.  The event marked the first public announcement of the technology's availability to Comcast customers.

  • Comcast won a Vision Award from the Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association November 18.  The award was in the "Community Relations - Series" category, and recognized the video campaign we produced and aired for the Indianapolis 500 Festival.
