Community Events and Sponsorships

September 1998

  • On September 2, 1998, Game Show Network's "Trivia Track" dedicated the evening's program to Comcast customers in Indianapolis. The program allows viewers to become contestants on the show, using their touch-tone phones to answer trivia questions. On this particular evening, only Comcast customers in Indianapolis were allowed to be contestants.

  • On September 2, 1998, Comcast taped two public service announcements for the Visiting Nurse's Association. The spots feature Congresswoman Julia Carson urging viewers to get flu and pneumonia shots at various locations.
  • Comcast and MSNBC sponsored the concert stage at the annual Labor Day Sky Concert September 5, 1998, on the banks of White River.
  • Comcast sponsored a foursome in the Republican City-County Council Golf Outing on September 18, 1998 at The Links in New Palestine.
  • Comcast was the presenting sponsor of the 20th Annual Dick Lugar Run & Walk held on the campus of Butler University on September 19, 1998. This is the second consecutive year of Comcast's involvement in the event, and the number of participants has increased in each year.
  • Comcast produced a public service announcement featuring Governor Frank O'Bannon and Senator Dick Lugar urging viewers to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming election. The spot is being made available to other cable companies in Indiana through the cooperation of the Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association, and 20 systems have already agreed to air the PSA in the coming weeks.
  • Comcast sponsored a foursome in the Fall Creek Little League Golf Outing on September 21, 1998, at Ironwood Golf Course in Fishers.
  • On September 30, 1998, Comcast taped Newsmakers segments with City-County Councilman Curtis Coonrod, Cindy Pacquin of Hope Lodge, Terry Hursch from Lutheran Child and Family Services, City-Councilman Tobin McClamroch, Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce President John Myrland, and Tri-Meridian, Inc. Vice President Dan Body.
