Community Involvement Report

The following lists Comcast's donations, contributions and sponsorships for the months of May and June.

  • Comcast and Nickelodeon co-hosted a Game lab for children on May 17 at Monument Circle. The event was a part of Indy 500 Festival activities.

  • Comcast was a "hole sponsor" at the Mayor Wiley Golf Outing on May 21 in Beech Grove.

  • Comcast contributed cash to the William's Creek/Meridian Hills Cops and Kids Picnic on June 7th. Five Comcast employees volunteered to inflate over 500 helium balloons and distribute them to the kids.

  • Comcast sponsored the Chamber of Commerce Local Government Reception at the IMAX Theatre.

  • As a result of their sponsorship of the Indianapolis Urban League, Comcast was given a table at the Urban League's annual Ebony and Ivory Gala on June 13.

  • Comcast paid for six people to play in the Indiana Cable Television Association Golf Outing on June 19 in Ft. Wayne.

  • Comcast donated cash to the Indianapolis Police Department K-9 Association to help them build a new kennel.

  • Comcast purchased five tickets to the inaugural "Three Cheers for Education" benefit on June 17th. Proceeds were donated to the Indianapolis Public Schools, Martin University and Black Expo.

Public Access Report

  • Effective October 1, 1996, Comcast is no longer obligated to carry public access programming per the new franchise agreement. Comcast has nevertheless, continued to carry public access programming on Channel 13, as part of their commitment to local community interest programming. Soon, the obligation to carry a channel that requires local educational and public safety programming will replace the programming carried on Channel 13. This should take place around the third week of August or early September.
  • Comcast will move public access programming over to Channel 50, which can only be seen in the upgraded areas. Public access carriage will be subject to limitations on Channel 50 that Comcast incurs due to leased access commitments.

  • Comcast fulfills the rest of its community interest programming commitments (as per the franchise agreement) by carrying WAV53 of Indianapolis. WAV53 is carried in the rebuilt areas on cable channel 99 and in the non-rebuilt areas on cable channel 38

Public Service Announcements

  • Comcast cablecasted nine public service announcements (PSAs) that were local in nature and 22 PSAs that were national in scope.
