Community Events & Sponsorships
April/May 1996
-
Comcast is, once again, a sponsor of the Chamber of Commerce's Local Government Reception at the Circle Theatre tomorrow beginning at 5:30 PM. We would like to extend a personal invitation to members of the Cable Franchise Board and members of the Cable Communications Agency.
-
We are embarking on a multi-month campaign to stop cable theft by stepping up our internal auditing efforts. Cable theft is a major reason for service calls as those individuals that pirate cable often utilize poor quality workmanship and materials which can result in reduced signal quality for paying customers. In addition, communities are negatively effected by lost franchise revenues. We encourage any of our customers that are aware of someone stealing cable to contact our office. Those customers that provide us with any lead that can be confirmed by our auditors will receive one month of free cable service.
-
This last Friday in the Indianapolis Star, we announced some exciting news for about 105,000 of our non-upgraded customers. On June 17th, we will be adding four of our most popular cable channels and Pay-Per-View movies that are currently carried in our upgraded areas. This earlier than expected upgrade has been made possible by replacing long runs of coaxial cable with fiber optic cable, discontinuing little used FM services, and combining different franchise area government channels to one channel. To gauge customer channel references, on May 17th, we launched a new channel called Comcast SNEAK PEAK on Channel 42. For 21 days we will preview ESPN2, BRAVO, SPEEDVISION, THE HISTORY CHANNEL, THE LEARNING CHANNEL, COMEDY CENTRAL, and THE SCI-FI CHANNEL. At the conclusion of this preview, we will randomly survey customer preferences to help us decide on four new services to launch along with a new version of the Comcast SNEAK PEAK channel and Pay-Per-View movies.
