Education Coordinator Karen Pierce represented TWC at the Educational Television Cooperative meeting at which the movement of the playback site for two educational access channels to Butler University was discussed. Time Warner was asked to help identify customers of the channels' absence for a couple of weeks while "signal transport" issues were resolved. Shary Johnston met with Butler University's Director of Corp. Relations to help resolve problems associated with the move of the two educational access channels as well as Butler's WTBU television station. Coordination is now taking place between Butler's TV engineer and TWC Director of Engineering. It appears that either the Institutional Network will need to be extended to WFYI-Channel 20 or fiber lines (or institutional network extensions) will need to be run to the existing Institutional Network located on the far north side of the University. These costs would be paid by Butler and the ETC.

TWC PR Manager Al Aldridge, Education Coordinator Karen Pierce, and VP Shary Johnston attended the Indianapolis Public School Foundation's Reading Recognition Dinner at the Governor's Mansion. Al serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundation. TWC sponsored a table that hosted sixth grade student Chris Moore, his parents, and teacher. The dinner recognized one student from each IPS school for reading proficiency.

Karen and Al coordinated and staffed the Saturday, June 23rd Travel Channel "World Tour" event at Glendale Mall. Shoppers were invited to tour the 40 X 40 foot exhibit and experience a "Jeep Adventure," a 3D virtual tour, and even get their photos taken on a postcard from an exotic location. Time Warner Cable customers who brought a current bill to the event were entered into a special drawing to win 50,000 flyer miles good for 2 roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the US. The Travel Channel also will be selecting one winner to receive a trip to Mexico.

Time Warner Cable served as a major sponsor of WFYI's public television "Let's Meet on Sesame Street" event. TWC's booth offered stickers, pencils, and "kid's washable tattoos." Children were also given the opportunity to participate in coloring activities. Brochures on TWC's educational and literacy initiatives, as well as product information were distributed to adults.
-
Public Relations coordinated a $14,250 in-kind sponsorship for the Family Advocacy Center's Fifth Annual "Kids, Police, and Fire Chiefs" event scheduled for Sept. 22 to provide victims and families of child abuse and domestic violence an opportunity to meet public safety officials in a fun, friendly environment. We have invited Court TV to join us at the event to promote our "Choices and Consequences" program.

TotaLink continues to be delayed by make-ready issues with the local electric company. During the June Cable Franchise Board meeting in Indianapolis, TotaLink received approval for a modified construction plan and two-year addition to the build-out time line. The advised build-out plan focuses construction activity in Time Warner's current franchise area and includes key business client locations. |
