Public Affairs Monthly Report
November 2000
Education:
-
Participated in an Indianapolis Public Schools National Urban Alliance workshop at IPS. The meeting concerned how Indianapolis Public Schools and community partners could apply for an educational grant to further education.

Attended a technology workshop at Tech High School. This year was a PTA Council planning session.

Informed franchise area schools about the parameters of a History Channel essay contest.

Finalized the script for the PTA commercial. The commercial will be on the system in December.

Attended the Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association Vision Awards Dinner. Time Warner received the Court TV "Crystal Gavel" award for our leadership in Court TV's "Choice and Consequences" project in conjunction with the Marion County Sheriff's Department and Indianapolis Public Schools.

Hosted a booth at the Indianapolis Children's Museum for the Time Warner/City of Indianapolis/Community Hospital sponsored "Violent Video Game Buy-Back" initiative. Over 350 violent video games were turned in at the event.
Community:

Al Aldridge represented Time Warner at a Hispanic Collaboration Council Meeting.

Developed and distributed price increase and channel change notifications to customers.

Time Warner sponsored a table at the NAACP Life Membership Awards Dinner at the Convention Center.

Received two Indiana Cable telecommunications Association Vision Awards, one for our sponsorship of the Coke Cola Circle City Classic, and one for our local production of a cable retention program, "Cooking With the Corner Gourmet."

Continued our support of local theatre groups by producing and running promotional spots for the Phoenix Theatre, Edyvean, and Madame Walker Theatre.
