Public Affairs Monthly Report

Programming:
- Continued support of the local theatre groups with production and airing of promotional spots for The Phoenix Theatre’s production of "Beauty Queen of Leenam," the American Cabaret Theatre’s production of "Swing, Swing, Swing," and Ballet International’s "Creation of the World".
- Aired three local "Cooking with the Corner Gourmet" shows on the Food Network.
- Aired three public service announcements for C-Span’s "Election Awareness" campaign.
- Produced a spot for the 2000 Census in cooperation with Congresswoman Julia Carson’s office.
Education:

Assisted the Marion County Sheriff’s department with the Court TV Choices and Consequences training program at John Marshall Middle School.

Education Coordinator Karen Kennedy Pierce represented TWC at the Educational Cooperative’s monthly meeting.

Trained the new Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association’s Cable in the Classroom coordinator.
Community:

Provided the remote production feed of the University of Indianapolis’ basketball games for WAV-53 TV.

Al Aldridge attended the monthly meeting of the Hispanic Council.

Al also participated in the 100 Black Men Career Fair at Arlington High School.

Participated in the Indianapolis Indians 2000 Baseball Season Medial Luncheon.

Shary and Al participated in the Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association’s state legislative reception.

Provided "platinum" sponsorship for the Hemophilia of Indiana fund-raising dinner and dance which raised over $15,000 for the organization.

Received special recognition from the Mental Health Association in Marion County for sponsoring Intro 2000 which raised over $80,000 for the non-profit agency.

Shary and Al met with numerous City-County Council representatives to answer questions concerning the TWC/Comcast trade which was being discussed at public hearing before the Indianapolis Franchise Board and the Council’s Rules and Policy Committee.

Shary met with Sam Jones, Urban League President, and Rod Bohannon, NAACP President to address Comcast transfer concerns by both organizations.
