Public Affairs Monthly Report

Carried Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon's Inauguration on our LO Channel and produced and uplinked the Governor's State of the State address.

Carried seven (7) Indiana Pacer games on the LO Channel.

Produced live coverage of a University of Indianapolis basketball game.

Provided media sponsorship for the Marion County Mental Health Association's Intro '97, which is a welcoming dinner for the State Legislature coordinated by the Mental Health Association and the Mayor of Indianapolis. MCs for the event, which is well attended by elected state officials and members of the corporate community, were our hosts for the Six-Thirty Show, which is seen live each week on the LO Channel.

Produced and cablecast coverage of the Martin Luther King celebration at Martin University.

Provided our production truck at a reduced rate to the Indianapolis Public School System so the school system's Martin Luther King holiday celebration could be videotaped for use on the educational access channel.

Participated in the local United Negro College Fund telethon event and donated $1000 to the cause.

Held the first of two scheduled Program Advisory Committee meetings which are required by the franchise. Members of the committee are representatives from the United Way, the Indianapolis Arts Council, and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. All were enthusiastic about the local programming American Cablevision is producing for the community and pledged to help promote our efforts.
