Public Affairs Monthly Report
December 1997 Programming:
- Continued production of Six-Thirty news magazine show on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Produced David Miller Public Affairs Show, which will continue through the first quarter of 1998. Finished production of Hola USA at the end of December.
- Aired PSA for the Sheriff’s Department promoting citizen involvement in solving crime.
- Produced 30-second spot for American Cabaret Theatre’s production of Decades.
- Produced PSA for the Arts Council Jazz Concert on December 21.
- Carried IRT’s A Christmas Carol spots on ad insertion channels.
- Carried IU vs. Notre Dame game on Cable Channel 20 (LO channel) so that customers in non-upgraded areas could view the game.
Community:
- Committed to a $50,000 media sponsorship for the International Violin Competition being held in Indianapolis in 1998.
- Finalized plans for the launch of the Independent Film Channel’s monthly Artsgarden film showings. January event will feature the film Slingblade.
- Adopted a Christmas family through the United Christmas Service. Also adopted a cottage of young men at the Plainfield Juvenile Correction Facility. Both the Christmas family and the youths at the correctional institution received food, clothing and games/toys for the holidays through the efforts of our divisional employees who raised funds through the year for these projects.
- Shary Hoffman-Meadows was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Center of Indianapolis, a non-profit organization that assists businesses with ties to Indiana and the international markets.
