Public Affairs Monthly Report
August 1997
Programming:
- Produced a half-hour program, The Tapestry of Our Culture, which examines the positive aspects of cultural diversity by building on the Time Warner "It’s US" exhibit featured last fall. The program, which features a Sikh Indian family from our Marion, Indiana system, will be cablecast on our systems in Indianapolis, Marion and Carmel. A limited number of copies will be made available to schools and libraries.
- Produced a 30-second promotional spot for the American Cabaret Theatre as part of our season sponsorship.
- Continued producing Six-Thirty PM Show with special guests Governor and Mrs. Frank O’Bannon, Mayor Steve Goldsmith, National Republican Association Chair Jim Nicholson, State Treasurer Joyce Brinkman and the School Superintendents from the Indianapolis Public Schools and all township schools.
Community:
- Coordinated teachers’ workshop at the Great Lakes Cable Expo for 30 Indianapolis educators. In addition to providing a Cable in the Classroom workshop and a Critical Viewing Skills workshop for the teachers, we offered a special session focusing on Time Warner initiatives for teachers. Bonnie Hathaway made the presentation that was very well received.
- Featured the Cartoon Network’s Brickyard 400 car at Lafayette Square Mall the day before the race. Information about new programming options was distributed along with Time Warner Cable balloons.
- Participated in the Tuskegee Airmen National Convention being held in Indianapolis.
- Supported the ABA Gala in conjunction with Classic Sports Network.
