Each year, American Cablevision's system is tested by an independent third party to insure that RF (radio frequency) signals are not leaking into the air. The FCC requires this test to protect aircraft and air traffic control operations from having interference in their communications. Signal leakage is frequently caused by unauthorized persons tampering with the cable system to receive programming without paying for it. Over the past two years, with the help of Prosecutor Scott Newman, members of his staff and the Indianapolis Police Department, American Cablevision has been able to significantly mitigate cable theft in Indianapolis. As a result, American Cablevision passes the FCC's "Cumulative Leakage Index" test with a 100% score this month.
-
Under Section 7.03 (e) of the new franchise, American Cablevision agreed to appoint a Local Community Interest Program Advisory Committee with three representatives from established non-profit community organizations. In October, three prominent members of the non-profit community confirmed their membership on the committee. They are: Ramona Baker, Executive Director of the Indianapolis Arts Council; Danita Edwards, Community Affairs Director for the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce; and Irv Katz, President, United Way of Central Indiana.
