Provided live election return coverage for Marion County on an extended version of Six-Thirty P.M. Many local and state-wide candidates, such as State Superintendent of Public Instruction Suellen Reed, stopped by the studio to join in the show. In addition, two City-County Council members, the retiring County Treasurer and a representative from the Republican State Committee provided political commentary as election results were received.

Produced and carried live coverage of two University of Indianapolis basketball games.

Produced a half-hour advertiser-supported local sports talk show featuring Indianapolis area boxers.

Began carrying Indiana Pacers games via Fox Sports Network Cable basketball package.

Provided media sponsorship for the Junior League's Holiday Mart to support local civic projects.

Received Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association's 1996 Best Public Affairs Series Award for Six-Thirty P.M. and the Association's 1996 Overall Local Programming Award.

Provided season sponsorship for the Indianapolis Opera and received opening night recognition for our support of the opera over the past several years.

Provided a workshop for local teachers on C-SPAN's Educational Equipment Grants.

Conducted both a Cable in the Classroom and a Know TV Workshop for local elementary teachers.

Selected three winners of the It's Us Student Essay Contest on "What It Means To Be An American." All three winners, who were Arsenal Technical High School students, received their awards and a U.S. Savings Bond during a live production of Six-Thirty P.M.

Launched the ESPY Awards Essay Contest, which asks local students to explain the personality trait(s) of a favorite professional or collegiate athlete which makes that athlete exemplary. Indiana Pacer Reggie Miller served as the talent for our promotional spot. The contest is a joint effort between Time Warner and ESPN. |
