Public Affairs Monthly Report
December 1996

Continued the daily news magazine, Six-Thirty PM, Monday through Friday. During December, we had as guests: Congressman Dan Burton; Mayor Steven Goldsmith; Deputy Mayor Irma Neal; Sheriff Jack Cotty; Mercedes Ellington, granddaughter of Duke Ellington; Melvin Carraway, new Superintendent of State Police; Suellen Reed, Superintendent of Public Instruction; Susan Williams, City-County Councilor; and Santa Clause.

Produced a University of Indianapolis basketball game on the 21st. This was the sixth game of a ten-game package for the 1996-97 season.

Produced promotional spots for the Edyvean Theatre holiday production.

Produced a promotional spot for the Indianapolis Opera, featuring one of its sponsors.

Carried three Pacers games and one Purdue game on the channel during the month.

Met with Marketing, Bravo Network, and the Arts Council of Indianapolis to discuss how we can collaborate during 1997. Decided to continue with our Sunday Jazz in the ArtsGarden series for the first quarter year, then transition to a movie night featuring films from the Independent Film Channel.

Provided major sponsorship of the 1996 Indy Roundball Invitational for the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis.

Adopted a Christmas family from the United Christmas Service Program. This year we had more participation than ever before, and the family received a wealth of donations.

Conducted a blood drive to assist the Indiana Regional Blood Center for the holidays. |
