Public Affairs Monthly Report
August 1995

Produced live coverage of a "Critical Viewing Skills Workshop" led by the Cable Telecommunications Association during the Great Lakes Cable Expo held in Indianapolis. Special guests who participated in the workshop were IPS Superintendent Esperanza Zendejas and State PTA President Tinka Booe. American Cablevision hosted the workshop in its production studio and offered viewers free copies of the Critical Viewing Skills workbook to all who called and requested copies.

Produced a public service spot announcement for the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Red Cross to appeal for support of the Red Cross Reunion of World War II workers.

Coordinated a distance learning exhibit between the Great Lakes Cable Expo Technology Showcase and American Cablevision studios where representatives from Collaboration 2000 were located and could participate in demonstrations of high speed data transmission and tour the C-Span School Bus.

Coordinated the Educators Track at the Great Lakes Cable Expo. Materials and programs offered educators an opportunity to learn more about the Cable in the Classroom program and what it offers in the way of support materials; tour the exhibitors booths and talk with representatives from the various cable programming networks such as Arts & Entertainment, Bravo, CNN and Discovery; participate in a half-day Critical Viewing Skills Workshop.

American Cablevision PR Manager Al Aldridge was named Chairman of the 1995 Hemophilia Annual Meeting.

Provided financial support to the Hispanic Gala which raises funds for educational and social service programs for Indianapolis' Hispanic Community. |
