Public Affairs Monthly Report

June 1994

  • Continued producing an average of 17 hours of new local origination programming on Cable Channel 20-WTWE, including coverage of the Indianapolis Press Club's monthly "2nd Tuesday" luncheon program in which a prominent person addresses the organization on a timely issue.  We also held initial meetings with the Indianapolis Ice to discuss the possibilities of producing and cablecasting live coverage of the upcoming season games.

  • Provided corporate sponsorship to Indiana Black Expo's African National Family Summit.  American Cablevision also provided corporate sponsorship for the StarQuest '94 talent competition which is held in conjunction with Expo's annual summer celebration.

  • Provided support for the Indianapolis Urban League's Ebony & Ivory recognition banquet, as well as the Indianapolis Chapter of 100 Black Men's recent recognition dinner.

  • Provided Master of Ceremonies and other support for Indianapolis Public School #11's 5th grade graduation.  During the ceremonies, we presented two School 11 teachers with Certificates of Merit from the National Cable in the Classroom Crystal Apple Competition.  The teachers had used programming from BET (Black Entertainment Television) to help students understand how to better deal with peer pressures.
