Cable Agency Report February 22 - March 18, 1996
Please allow me this opportunity to highlight some of the things that the Cable Communications Agency has been involved with during the past month.
-Our office has reviewed and responded to the third cable franchise agreement drafts for both operators and we have respectfully submitted our comments pertaining to those documents.
-The Agency continues to provide support on the franchise renewal for our negotiating team in the areas of research, analysis and document acquisition.
-We have been getting details from the FCC in forwarding on rate complaints to them and the manner in which the FCC now requires these documents to be sent. The new Telecommunications Act now requires a Franchising Authority to submit Cable rate Complaints on behalf of the subscribers. The FCC is still sorting out the process internally. We have quite a stack of rate complaints to submit for both operators as soon as the FCC figures things out in house.
-The Agency has set up a new voice mail routing system that will allow us to better serve callers in off hours to handle cable complaints and to direct cable operator related inquiries to the appropriate operator with a back up phone number should the primary number be busy.
-The Agency filed Closed Captioning comments to the FCC on behalf of Channel 16 during the open comment period allowed by the FCC to do so.
