MISSION STATEMENT
The Telecom & Video Services Agency monitors and petitions for the compliance and contractual obligations of the video service providers under a State franchise.Such compliance includes all of the City benefits that carry forward to the State that were written and included in the local franchise agreements. Such compliance includes the continuation, connections and signal quality of the Institutional Networks (INETs) which are utilized for Public Safety's use, the data and public service drops to local governmental institutions, signal quality, funding and all related compliance issues for the educational and government access channels.
Furthermore, the Telecom & Video Services Agency keeps abreast of pending telecommunications legislation on behalf of local elected officials.
The agency also provides administrative, strategic and secretarial support to Government Access TV/ Channel 16 and Government TV 2, through preparing documentation to address municipal concerns regarding telecommunications and video services before the FCC. The Telecom & Video Services Agency participates in activities regarding the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA). NATOA is the governing organization that represents municipal and citizen concerns and rights on Capitol Hill and the FCC.
