Welcome to Indianapolis Animal Care & Control

Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) works in partnership with the community to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of the people and pets in Indianapolis.

IACC strives for a community free of the public health and safety issues caused by irresponsible pet ownership, where no animals suffer due to human abuse, neglect or ignorance and where every pet born will be assured a good home and care for all its natural life.

IACC encourages the adoption of pets from animal shelters, enforces ordinances and laws regarding animal-related issues, houses the city's homeless and neglected animals and educates youth and citizenry regarding responsible pet ownership.

On March 9, 2008, IACC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Humane Society of Indianapolis to expand the cooperative relationship between the two agencies and allow them to serve the homeless pets in the city as one population. As a part of the follow-up to that MOU, we are tracking our intake numbers and doing everything we can to keep the public informed about any successes or failures we have on this journey.
