Neighborhood to host anti-crime Peace Rally
INDIANAPOLIS – The Eastside Neighborhood Action & Community Team (ENACT), neighborhood residents, community leaders, city officials, law enforcement and community groups will host an anti-crime rally in an effort to promote peace and encourage residents to stand against violence and crime in local Neighborhoods.
WHEN: TODAY– Tuesday, July 25 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: CAFÉ (Community Alliance of the Far Eastside) 8902 E. 38th Street
Residents, community leaders and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department will address the media and then walk from 38th Street going north on Post Road to 42nd Street and back. Youth from the CAFÉ Summer Camp will also demonstrate their support for peace with an anti-violence message.
ENACT is a project of CAFÉ and supported by area neighborhood associations, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Indy Parks and Recreation, Pathway to the Future Learning Center at Amberwoods, and Purdue Cooperative Extension Service. CAFÉ is a safe place where residents can go to have crime watch meetings, file a report with the Sheriff’s Department or get more information.
CAFÉ was started by community residents and continues to serve residents through social service and community development activities.
ENACT meets the third Tuesday of every month at CAFÉ at 6:00 p.m., and will hold their regular meeting following the rally. For more information, call (317) 698-8057 or go to the CAFÉ offices at 8902 E 38th Street. -30-
